As quickly as it started

it came to an end. The run to Mayor for 2010 is over.

I want to Thanks to all the people that have encouraged me to investigate it and to pursue it further.

I guess I am not fully ready for it. Michelle had and still has a ton of questions of things that I had not thought of, and maybe, this year, with the short time frame, I am just not mentally prepared for it.

I do have it on my list of things to do before I pass, and I am not calling it a Bucket List. But I think that I have what it takes to offer to a community. My public speaking is suspect (but getting better) but after that I think there are enough talents for me make my city/county/state/country better for everyone.

I read this quote this weekend from a a person on my Tweet List "
Leadership is not about controlling people, it's about caring for people & being a useful resource for people" -James Autry

I think that quote is going to stick with me as I try to plan out the future to really see if there is run for a political office in my future. First step is .....

Vacation

Took an 8 day Vacation to the Happiest Place on Earth. That's right, Disneyworld.

I am not sure that there is a place that has better customer service. Period.

I am sure that there are places that customer service is a key value to their business model, but not many places make the customer the most important piece of the experience.
It will be tough to get back into full swing of events. Being off of work for 12 days has a ton of benefits, but the hard part is picking up at full speed again.

Third time down there, but first time on Space Mountain. First time on Mount Everest. Lots of firsts for Team Bedalov.

Come and Gone

The big birthday came and went a couple weeks ago. Swimmers did an excellent job of getting me things that were in packages of 40 including Mountain Dew's, 40 marshmallows, 40 cents, 40 Q-Tips, 40 ounces of candy bars, 40 cookies, etc

And so the life as a 40 year old starts....I still really do not feel like I am 40. Most days more like a 30 year old with 10 more years of life experience.

One of my coaching buddies asked me why I was always so happy and cheerful at the swim meets that he sees me at, my only response was that I have nothing to be down about.

My 19th Swim Season will end this Saturday with the State Championship Meet. Next year will be number 20, and next years freshman will be seniors when my daughter is a freshman. That actually makes me feel old.

Smile...Just once a day

This was floating around on You Tube and Twitter and Facebook. Thought I would put this on the blog. It is a great little piece and really hits home on what people need.

Just a number

As I embark on my 40th birthday, which is October 15th for those that have not sent me card :), I realize that it is just another number, just another day. And it really is not much of a milestone, and rally just means I am getting old.

I could go into a long list of things that have changed over the years. Things like how technology has changes, or how gas prices have changed, or even how the core family structure have changed. All have positive and negative sides.

Instead I would rather think about all the great things I have lived through. A great spouse for 16 years and two loving children. I have had the pleasure of coaching young adults for 19 years at two different schools. I have a warm inviting Church with a great cast of members. I work at a smaller company that has similar core values that I believe in. And I have a great group of friends.

If the next 40 can be just like the first 40, I think I can live with that.

Swim Swim Swim

We are halfway into the season and all energy is pointing towards a big finish this season. As part of our training is always good for us to circle back around and work on reinforcing good technique and we do that by working on drills.

I subscribe to www.goswim.tv and and get swim notes and tricks and drill from the site all the time. This was the one posted last week and we did it at practice and it really helped.

The site I found this past week was at www.iamaswimmom.com She has a weekly newsletter that she sends out and the firsts couple I received were very good. Here is the introduction video from the site.
